How to classified of sentence connectors

শিক্ষার্থী বন্ধুরা, আজ ইংরেজি দ্বিতীয় পত্রের Sentence Connectors-এর শ্রেণিবিন্যাসকৃত ৫ নং ব্যবহার শিখবো।

৫. কোন ঘটনার বিন্যাস বা ধারাবাহিকতা নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহূত sentence connectors ঃ

(a) Phrasal connectors: At first, first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, twenty-third, in the middle of, at last, last, next, final ইত্যাদি। এই connector-গুলো সাধারণত কোন noun-এর পূর্বে বসে। যথাঃ

Rayhan fell in love with his cousin at first sight. (‘প্রথম’ দর্শনে)

Nusrat is the first girl in the class. (‘প্রথম’ মেয়ে)

The seventeenth item was very lucrative. (‘সতেরতম’ উপাদান)

In the middle of her speech, Rina quoted two lines from the poem ‘Bidrohi’. (বক্তব্যের ‘মাঝে’)

At last scene, the protagonist defeated his deadliest enemy. (‘শেষ’ দৃশ্যে)

What he asked was not his last question. (‘শেষ’ প্রশ্ন)

I like to know your next programme. (‘পরবর্তী’ প্রোগ্রাম)

Do you know what will happen in the final episode? (‘চূড়ান্ত্ম’ পর্বে)

(b) Clausal connectors: At first, firstly, in the first place, in the beginning, secondly, thirdly, fourthly, fifthly, lastly, at last, in the end, finally, in conclusion, to conclude, after that, then, afterwards, furthermore, moreover, above all ইত্যাদি। এই connector-গুলোর বেশিরভাগই বাক্যের শুরম্নতে, মাঝে কিংবা শেষে বসতে পারে। যথাঃ

He tried to convince her at first. (‘প্রথমত’)

Firstly, I like to mention the main cause of poverty. (‘প্রথমে’)

Students should give emphasis on English in the first place. (‘প্রথম স্থানে’)

In the beginning she takes a little time to tell any story. (‘শুরম্নতে’)

Secondly, she is an expert cook. (‘দ্বিতীয়ত’)

Lastly, the ghost appeared before them. (‘অবশেষে’)

At last Suhana disclosed everything. (‘অবশেষে’)

The director left the seminar in the end. (‘পরিশেষে’)

Finally I decided to visit the city and enjoy a lot. (‘চূড়ান্ত্মপর্যায়ে’)

In conclusion I can say that she is the most suitable person. (‘উপসংহারে’)

To conclude, the student utters those important lines. (‘উপসংহার দিতে’ বা ‘শেষ কিছু বলতে’)

After that he stood up from the seat. (‘তার পরে’)

Then she left the place silently. (‘অতঃপর’ বা ‘তারপর’)

She was convinced afterwards. (‘পরবর্তীতে’)

Furthermore he led us to the wrong path. (‘তা ছাড়াও’ বা ‘তদুপরি’)

Moreover, she looked very alluring. (‘অধিকন্তু’)

Above all the Principal was right. (‘সর্বোপরি’ বা ‘মোটের উপর’)
